A New Creed
We are not alone,
we live in God's world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God's presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God

A Church at Work in the World.
At St. Stephen’s we believe that what we do is more important than what we say. We are committed to a number of active outreach projects through various partnerships in Vancouver and around the world. Some of our partners and projects include First United Church in the downtown eastside, Florence Nightingale School Breakfast Program, African Canadian Continuing Education Society, Aunt Leah’s, and a girls school in Dangpanan, Phillipines.
A Church with a Social Conscience.
The United Church has always taken, and encouraged, an active interest in social, environmental, and economic issues. We believe that God calls us not just to proclaim our faith with words but to live it out in action. If you are interested in United Church policies and statements on social issues such as aboriginal rights, ecology, economic justice, health, and human rights you’ll find lots of information at our national website. http://www.united-church.ca/en/beliefs/policies
What about the bible?
The United Church of Canada website includes an overview of some of our beliefs regarding the bible, sacraments, inclusiveness, children, marriage, multi-faith relations, and social justice.
At St. Stephen's we're committed to:
· nurturing the spiritual growth of each person;
· celebrating God's presence through worship;
· equipping each person for the work of ministry;
· reaching out into God’s world with love and compassion.
